Kråksundet has long traditions of various forms of coastal fishing. Seine fishing for herring was carried out here, and Norway’s first “modern” production of klippfisk (clipfish) began here in 1691, when the Dutchman Jappe Ippes received royal approval and exclusive rights to introduce this production method.

Experience an Authentic Net Boathouse

During the summer season, the museum area is lively with activity, including museum days, gatherings of vintage boats, and other events. If you arrive by boat, Kråksundet also offers a good anchorage in sheltered waters.
